I teach German II, German III, German IV, and A.P. German at Walled Lake
Central. I am truly enjoying the classes that I am teaching as my students are all enthusiastic and well-prepared by their
previous teachers. It is my goal to achieve maximum fluency for each student at each level , bringing to my job many years
of experience gathered from frequent travel to Germany, Austria and Switzerland and from maximizing my personal contacts with
native speakers living in our community and area. These experiences and contacts have come about largely through The German
Exchange at Walled Lake Central which I founded with German colleagues during the school year 1975-76. According to the National
Association of Secondary School Principals who originally sponsored our exchange, we have the longest continual exchange at
the high school level in both the U.S. and in Germany. In the summer of 2007, I travelled to our partner school in Garbsen,
Germany for a three and a half week stay in that community with eighteen of our students. We lived with Garsen families, attended
the local Gymnasium (secondary modern school), took part in numerous local field trips and visited local, regional, and
national institutions of government where we were received as guests to commemorate our long-standing exchange. German students
and teachers will visit Walled Lake in the fall of 2006 when we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the exchange on this
side of the Atlantic. Over the years, an estimated 800 families from both partner communities have been brought together through
this long-lasting program.
